What is OctoPod?
Octopod is a phone app that allows you to monitor your printer remotely without having to log in through a browser. It is especially useful for those who check in on their printers often or those who have many printers. Octopod is easy to use, understand, and fast.
Ease of use
Octopod’s ease of use makes it one of, if not my favorite, Apple apps to monitor your printer. Once installed on your phone, Octopod is a slick remote interface that allows you to control every aspect of your 3d printer just like Octoprint. Along with this, you can easily set up printers through many different methods. The easiest method is through Ocotprint. If you are an OctoEeverywhere supporter, you can add your printer through OctoEverywhere. If you are not, you can add your printer through the IP address (although you cannot access this outside of it ‘s WIFI from my knowledge).
Downsides
Although Octopod is a wonderful app, there are some downsides. Octopod cannot be installed on Mac computers and is only compatible with iPads and iPhones of a certain OS. Overall, this is a small downside since the computer can easily access the web interface.
Overall Rating
Octopod’s ease of use, speedy and reliable connection, and notifications system make it a really reliable and useful piece of software. Octopod allows Apple users to connect to their printer remotely from their phone and easily start/stop prints, change temps, speed, feed rate, and so much more. Although you can only access and use this app on iPhone and iPad, it is still a wonderful piece of software in the never-ending fight against failures!
