PC filament is a lesser-known and used filament in general printing. Its difficulty of printing and higher price make it less accessible, but this material comes in handy for specific applications.
As it can hold a temperature of around 150°C, it has numerous applications in daily life or engineering processes. The Polymaker catalog also offers a wide variety of colors.
For example, you could print parts inside your dishwasher or a stencil for vapor cleaning. The PC filament can also withstand environments like a heated chamber or parts to improve your printer with good mechanical reliance and dimension stability. It is also a really good material if you need great impact resistance, higher than what ABS provides.
Printing settings
This filament can be a pain to print and needs the right environment and precise control. An enclosed printer with specialized glue for PC filament is recommended, as it can easily wrap and turn your printing experience into a nightmare.
The recommended settings are as follows:
- Extruder temp: 260°C
- Bed temp: 100°C
- Fan: 0%
- Speed: 50mm/s
- Retraction speed: 40mm/s
- Retraction distance (direct drive): 1.5mm
- Restart speed: 25mm/s
Use cases
The vapor cleaning stencil is a really lovely product for car cleaners. As it needs to hold up to hot vapor, the high melting point of this filament is really useful.
