You have a warm coffee, walk into your print farm, and all your printers eagerly welcome you and ask to get printing – all at once. It’s a beautiful way to start the day and get your creative juices flowing!
Customization Done For You
Gadget’s GPT Voice AI uses advanced customization algorithms to give each of your printers a unique personality. Users can’t directly control the personality of the printer, but the AI uses past print history, statistics, and more to determine the perfect fit. Here are some of our favorite personalities we have seen emerge during our testing.
- Charming Charles – Our Bambu X1 Carbon became Charming Charles. Charles is warm, happy, and always ready to help. He is a pleasure to meet every morning and always makes our team smile.
- Sophisticated Sophie – Our Prusa MK4 took on the personality of Sophisticated Sophie. Sophie is wonderful to work with and gets down to business. She suggests advanced printing techniques that optimize our prints for speed and efficiency.
- Grumpy Gus – Our older Ender 3 took an… interesting… turn and became Grumpy Gus. Gus doesn’t like to work before 11 a.m. and will often show that by intentionally failing prints and making minor quips at the other printers. Gus doesn’t always have the best attitude, but we are working on it.
Helpful Printing Advice
One of the most productive features of Gadget GPT Voice AI is assisting you in preparing and starting prints. Your printer’s AI can prompt you to change the filament, remind you when routine maintenance is needed, and suggest tweaks to the printing profile to optimize the print.
Failure Detection
Gadget’s primary use has always been incredible 3D print AI failure detection. Our current version of Gadget is free and unlimited for everyone and uses your 3D printer’s camera to continuously monitor your print for several common 3D printing failures. If a failure is detected, Gadget can send you a notification via email, SMS, Telegram, Discord, or others and can even automatically pause your print to save time and filament.
Let’s see how print failure detection gets even better with Gadget GPT Voice AI. In this example, we will use Charming Charles as the personality.
You start a print, and everything looks great. As your printer finishes the first layer, Charles inspects the first layer quality, is satisfied, and happily announces, “The first layer is complete, and it looks splendid.”
Around layer 45, Gadget’s AI detects a possible bed adhesion issue, and Charles starts to get nervous. Charles internalizes his anxiety for a while, but after 20-30 seconds of seeing the failure, he can’t hold back and starts to announce, “…ummm, something might be wrong….” …. “heyyy, I might need some help….”, …. “HEY CAN SOMEONE COME CHECK ON ME?!?”
At this point, if Gadget’s failure detection auto-pause feature was enabled, the printer would be paused, and Charles would sigh in relief.
But it’s not. As each gram of filament extrudes into the air, creating a tangled mess of spaghetti, Charles experiences the pain of failure and waste. Charles’s voice AI will begin streaming in pain and disappointment, as he knows the print is beyond recovery and will need to be restarted. Charles will continue to experience excruciating pain until the operator hears his cries for help and stops the print.
EDIT: After extensive lab testing, the OctoEverywhere team has decided to delay the release of Gadget GPT Voice AI until it can be tuned and act more humane.
